The professional answer to long-lasting protection
Actigard by Allergy Shield. A few questions and answers.
How does it work:-
An invisible barrier is created on treated furnishings and rugs eliminating the food chain that dust mites breed on. Without this, dust mites, mould, fungi and bacteria cannot develop.
What can I treat:-
Water safe textiles that cannot be regularly washed at 60 (e.g. bed linen). This includes polypropelene and items with stain resistant finishes.
How long will it last:-
Actigard is permanent to daily vacuuming and dry cleaning. Hot water extraction cleaning will remove a large percentage of the barrier and retreatments are recommended especially to polypropelene or acrylic fibres.
What about exisiting infestations:-
Actigard will kill any existing dust mite infestation as well as leaving a permanent barrier against further procreation.
Advantages over other insecticides:-
Notwithstanding any safety or environmental issues Actigard is safe, proven and permanent to normal daily maintenance. With basic powder insecticides, reinfestation can take place in a matter of days after treatments.
Can I use Actigard for other infestations:-
Yes. Actigard treatments cover a broad spectrum, e.g. fleas, carpet beetle, silverfish, bed bugs, moth, cockroaches, ants, etc.
Combination:-
Now available as a combination product with StainShield (aqueous) Protector.
Directions:-
Vacuum items before treatments. Spray evenly 10”-12” away from textiles making uniformally damp.To aid penetration of Allergyshield on deep or thick piled wool carpets, a light pre spray of water with spray pressure at 2Bar, use T Jet 8002 for carpeting and 8001 for fabric. (See labels for coverage).
Drying:-
With good air circulation most furnishings will be touch dry in 2-4 hrs. To accelerate process the use of hair dryers or blow heaters is recommended. Thick or deep piled items can take longer and premature contact with outdoor shoes or clothing should be avoided.
Caution:-
To avoid water marking on fabrics, never partially treat items. Certain fibres are prone to shrinkage/distortion (e.g. jute, sisal, viscose).
